Vice President, The Center for Family Safety and Healing. The family violence center, located at Nationwide Children’s, aspires to break the cycle of violence through advocacy, prevention, intervention, treatment and research.

My Birthdate:
12/30/72

My Work:
I manage the operations of a great organization and support the work an amazing team of experts in the field of family violence and child abuse.

My Passion:
My family and friends and learning new things

My Family:
My husband, Mitch Harville and our two sons, Blake, 5 and Maddox, 2. They keep me laughing!

My Heroes:
My parents, Ray and Marty Voit… they passed away too young, but left a lasting impact on many. I miss them terribly.

My Escape:
The beach, the sun, the outdoors

My Pet Peeve:
Poor customer service and people not caring about their work

My Indulgence:
Good food + good wine + good friends… and dessert of course!

My Roots:
Strong family ties and long-lasting amazing friendships

My Future:
It gets better every day!

My Love:
My boys! I love watching them learn, grow and discover something new. I absolutely love the way they care for each other. Nothing is better than when they give each other a hug or tell each other “I love you”.

My Movie:
If I had to pick one today it would be “Crash.” It was challenging and really left me thinking.

Always think about your personal brand and what it represents….not just for today but also into the future.

How I Balance it All:
First of all, I realize that not all areas will be perfectly balanced all of time. Secondly, I try to be flexible and focus on the right things to achieve the right amount of balance in the right area at the right time.

My Work:
My life’s mission has been to improve the health and well-being of people worldwide. My work focuses on helping industry, universities, regulators, and policy-makers turn ideas into safe, effective medical products that can be accessed by people around the world to prevent disease and to improve their health.

My Passions:
My family, my friends, and my community. I am an active participant in the shared vision of creating an environment where all can live safe, productive, and healthy lives.

My Family:
Johan (supportive partner in the truest sense), Emily (amazing, successful, entrepreneurial daughter – age 29), Peter (smart, athletic, earth-conscious son – age 26).

Negativity. Unhealthy behaviors and decisions. Judgments based on hearsay.

My Advice to Young Women:
Don’t be afraid to take chances in life – these provide the best learning experiences. And don’t feel guilty taking care of yourself, as feeling your best is key to being your best.

How I Balance it All:
I constantly ask myself the question: Is this something I should be doing and will it enable me to meet my goals? If not, it may not be critically important and I can either hand it to the right person or just say no.

I collaborate and partner with Carolinas HealthCare System’s corporate services group to develop and strengthen relationships that foster a single unified enterprise. I provide consultative human resources support in the areas of employee relations, engagement, organizational development, performance management, and policy management.

My Passion:
My faith and my family

My Family:
Rick (Husband/Future PGA “Green Jacket” winner at the Masters), Justin (Son/Future Baseball Player – 8), Morgan (Daughter/Future President of the United States – 7)

My Heroes:
My grandmother (Reverend Dr. Margaret L. Wortham – pastored her own church for over 40 years) and My mother (single mother to three college graduates who sacrificed so much, valued education, and never gave up on anything)

My Escape:
Going into my secret prayer closet to have a personal conversation with God

My Pet Peeve:

People who want to tell you what you should change but they have not changed themselves (clean up your own house before you try to make repairs on someone else’s house)

My Indulgence:
Intellectual conversations with people I don’t know

My Roots:
No nonsense. Conservative. Lots of “I Love You” (life is a gift and can be taken away in an instant).

My Future:
The sky is truly the limit. Anything is possible!

My Love:
Watching my children develop as individuals. My son telling me I am the best Mommy ever and my daughter expressing her love for me through letter writing (one letter said I love you so much because you know what is best for me – I have laminated this letter so I can remind her when she turns 16). My husband giving me “that look” which replaces the words that sometimes don’t come naturally.

Don’t let anyone define who you should be; take charge of your own destiny.

How I Balance it All:
I know I can’t do it alone so I stay grounded by focusing on the things I have (my faith, my family, and my health) versus the things I don’t have. I surround myself with positive people and I don’t sweat the small stuff (like when my husband/son forget to put the toilet seat down) – life is too short!
