Woman of the Week ~ Kathleen Williamson

But they all have this in common: they are dynamic, interesting women who have agreed to share with us their insights and secrets to success.

My Name: Kathleen “Kathie” Williamson

My Current Job/Company: President & Academic Dean at Mount Carmel College of Nursing

My Work: As President and Academic Dean for the college I am honored to have an impact on the education of the next generations of nurses. I am committed to leading with real-world knowledge, clinical skill and personal passion for academic excellence. I strive to motivate faculty, staff and students to face challenges and work beyond their potential in order to continue our history of educating compassionate nurse leaders. As a nurse, I believe in the Power of Nursing because Nurses we are truly extraordinary.

My Passion: My family, my friends, and my community.

My Family: John (Supportive Husband), Megin & Jason (Amazing Daughter & Son-n-law), Nicole & Aaron (Amazing Daughter & Son-n-law) & two amazing grandchildren (Jason & Padyn).

My Hero or Heroes: My Grandmother Irene. Born in 1916 she was the 1st generation from parents who immigrated from central Europe. My grandmother, who was raised on a dairy farm, went to nursing school and graduated with her diploma in 1937. She was the first nurse in our family. Now there are 6 spanning 3 generations.

My Escape: Any white sandy beach, walks on the beach, and sunsets fill my cup.

Pet Peeve: Rudeness and not saying please and thank you.

My Indulgence: Wine and going out for good food.

My Roots: Being humble and kind, happy and surrounding myself with family. Friendships that last forever and new ones that make the balance of work and life FUN!!

My Future: Optimistic and confident about the future.

My Favorite Quote: “If you Dream it, you can do IT!” (Walt Disney)

My Accessory: Pearls, Shoes, and a Smile.

My Advice to Young Women: Dream, Believe, and Achieve! If you dare to Dream big – set goals and believe in yourself. Believe in the power that you have as you will to do amazing things. You will Achieve many things in life, so develop career aspirations that will allow you to grow and build your practice and position yourself as a leader. Most importantly, don’t forget to turn around and help the next one in line – be a friend and mentor.
